While Bayer Consumer Care products are present in five major segments, major strength lies in analgesics. The Consumer Care Division manufactures and markets Bayer Aspirin®, one of the most extensively studied drugs in history, with more than a 100-year track record of safety and efficacy. Initially developed as a remedy for pain and inflammation, Aspirin is today the global gold standard for prevention of recurrent myocardial infarction (heart attack) and stroke. When used as directed, Bayer Aspirin® provides meaningful benefits, is safe and effective and is rarely associated with side effects.
In addition to Aspirin’s cardioprotective properties, preliminary research indicates that low-dose aspirin may protect against various types of colorectal cancer. While the evidence to date for Aspirin in chemoprevention is compelling, additional research is needed before aspirin is routinely recommended for this use.
Bayer Aspirin® remains a major factor in the success of Bayer Consumer Care, which provides support for numerous studies to evaluate Aspirin’s potential to address unmet health needs. Bayer is committed to working with the scientific community to optimize the appropriate use of Aspirin as scientific support evolves.
